I'm an early baby boomer. Australian. I've watched the world change. I don't claim expertise in anything in particular. Yes, I have a couple of dusty old university degrees on the wall, seen big business from the inside, been a business entrepreneur for 30+ years, raised capital, employed 1000+ people in a dozen or more countries, dealt with lawyers and governments, travelled, watched TV and read a lot. I rode the IT boom/bubble that burst in 2000. Made a bit and lost half of it: so I understand risk and acquired some wisdom. Enjoy the blog.-

Where’s Malcolm?
I share with probably a majority of voters the opinion that Malcolm Turnbull would do a better job of leading Australia than any other realistic candidate. I don’t agree with everything Malcolm says or does, but then who would? Right … Continue reading
… my worst Knightmare
This piece of retro politics shows that those big things on the side of Abbott’s head really are tin, and perhaps even that the space between them is an empty can. It reminds me of the 1960’s when, with … Continue reading

MH370 and another mystery of flying
I’ve been asked so many times for my theory on the mystery gripping the world, that I thought I’d write it down. Someone on MH370 had a sinister plan. We will likely never know what the plan or the objective … Continue reading
Death by Government
Yesterday Tony Abbott stood in front of a press gathering in Tasmania and asked could anyone think of “another Government program that had caused death”. There appeared to be a polite silence … I was astounded! Abbott was, of course, … Continue reading

Olympic games … lost the plot?
There is no better metaphor for the hubris of those in power than the Olympic Games. The vaunted Olympic ideal is was that the best sportspeople in the world come together in fun and fellowship to test their extraordinary skills … Continue reading

But I can’t afford it …
We’ve all said it. “That would be great, but I can’t afford it.” That house, that fancy car, that new dress, that exotic holiday, that night out … BUT, in recent decades … … The presence of credit cards in … Continue reading
